The Bacchus Foundation Chooses Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City as 2012-2013 Beneficiary
Kansas City, Mo. -- (July 3, 2012) The Bacchus Foundation announced today that Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City (BBBS-KC) has been chosen as their 2012-2013 beneficiary. Formed in 1955, The Bacchus Foundation is the oldest philanthropic, young professionals organization in Kansas City. Each year the Foundation selects a different charity as it's beneficiary and raises money through a series of parties and events such as Terror at Union Station Halloween party, The Bacchus Ball, & Jonesing for the Jones. Over the past six years the Bacchus Foundation has raised over $200,000 to support local causes. They have helped fund a computer room at Gordon Parks Elementary School, an education room at Operation Breakthrough, a Rehabilitation room for St. Luke's The Children's Spot and a public print studio at the Arts Incubator.
The money that the Bacchus Foundation raises for BBBS-KC will fund the addition of a Children’s Lounge in the new BBBS-KC building. BBBS-KC is in the process of a Capital Campaign and plans to break ground on their new building in Fall 2012.
The Children’s Lounge will be a place that the families of BBBS-KC can enjoy while visiting the BBBS-KC building. Art and crafts, books, and other forms of entertainment, as well as, resources for parents will all be made available in the Children’s Lounge.
"We are excited about partnering with BBBS-KC this year to raise money for their new Children's Lounge,” Tom Houlehan, President of The Bacchus Foundation. “Our party goers will not only be attending great events such as our 10th annual Halloween party at Union Station and 58th annual Bacchus Ball, but they will also learn more about what BBBS does for the Kansas City community and have the opportunity to get involved.”
“The Bacchus Foundation is the oldest and most respected young professionals groups in Kansas City,” said CEO of BBBS-KC, Micheal Lawrence. “We are honored to have been chosen as this year’s beneficiary and we look forward to connecting our organization and volunteers with The Bacchus Foundation’s members and event participants.”
