2012 Kansas City Chiefs Charity Game Raises More Than a Half-Million Dollars for Local Youth

Kansas City, Mo. -- (August 16, 2012)  Through the 2012 Chiefs Charity Game,  Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Kansas City has raised $550,000 to support its mission of creating life-changing friendships between adult mentors and children from one-parent households.  The funds raised through the Chiefs Charity Game will be used to support more than 1,200 active Matches and to recruit adult volunteers to become Big Brothers and Big Sisters to the hundreds of children waiting to be matched.

The Chiefs Charity Game committee was lead by Honorary Co-Chairs Tavia and Clark Hunt, CEO, Kansas City Chiefs and Loretta and John Lumellau, CEO, Lockton Companies, and Event Chair, Paul Kushnir, CEO, Wireless Lifestyle who also serves as the 2012 President of the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters.

“The Chiefs Charity Game is the premiere fundraiser for our agency this year, and the largest one-day fundraising event in the National Football League,” says Micheal Lawrence, CEO of Big Brothers Big Sisters.  “Our volunteer Charity Game leadership put forth a tremendous effort marketing the sponsorship packages we were able to offer by combining our organization’s assets with those of the Chiefs.”

Friday, August 10th was designated as the 2012 Chiefs Charity Game when the Kansas City Chiefs hosted the Arizona Cardinals in a preseason match-up.  Sponsors of the event had the opportunity to receive benefits including tickets to the game, tickets to a  VIP pregame party in “The Draft Room” at Arrowhead Stadium, access to Arrowhead Stadium luxury suites, access to the Hunt Family’s private Founder’s Suite, a special VIP experience at Chiefs Training Camp, the chance to travel to a 2012 road game on the team charter, and tickets, hotel accommodations, and airfare to the Super Bowl.

“We are pleased with our achievement this year and the impact it will have on the families that we serve,” said Lawrence.  “We are ready to build on our success for the 2013 Chiefs Charity Game.”
