Above and Beyond Training - Supporting Children Through Grief & Loss | Saturday, April 2 | 10 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | BBBS Office - 1709 Walnut Street | Breakfast will be provided. | This workshop is presented by Marissa Ebeling, Children’s Bereavement Counselor with Crossroads Hospice. The session will focus on educating individuals who have or work with children who have experienced a significant loss in their lives. Significant loss includes, but is not limited to, the death of a parent, sibling, or other close family member, loss of a parent in the home through divorce or incarceration, loss of a pet, or separation from siblings or other family members due to foster care placement or other domestic unrest. We will look at how children cope with death/loss throughout each developmental stage and learn about specific ways to best support them. As every child in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program comes from a single parent or non-traditional home environment, this session is applicable to all matches and volunteers are strongly encouraged to attend. If you have questions or to RSVP, contact Elizabeth Newkirk at elizabeth@bbbskc.org or (816) 777-2890.
