FAFSA Time
The FAFSA window for application opens on October 1st. All high school seniors and college students who will be attending school for the 2019/2020 school year should plan on filling out the FAFSA. It is mandatory as part of enrolling in college and receiving financial aid, grants, and scholarships. The early bird gets the worm….or at least access to more funding! Most states award financial aid on a first-come, first-served basis, and students who file early tend to receive twice as much grant money. You can prepare by gathering the necessary information to file early:
- Visit FAFSA.org to create a FAFSA ID right away. Both the student and parent/guardian need to complete this step.
- Have your social security number in hand.
- Parent/Guardian needs to have their 2018 tax records available.
- Have a list of schools that you are interested in attending or have been accepted to as they will receive your information automatically and determine additional aid that you may receive from the school.
We are here to help! We have computers and wi-fi. Talk to your Match Support Specialist if you are interested in visiting the office to work on your application.
