The Mayor Sly James - He's For Change Internship

The Mayor Sly James – He’s for Change Intern will provide assistance to the programs of the Women’s Foundation including the Appointments Project™, as well as other aspects of nonprofit administration. This position provides students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations with a focus on promoting leadership and philanthropic education for women of all ages. Interns may be required to work after hours to staff special events or activities. See the attached document for a full job description. Black Achievers of Greater Kansas City

The Black Achievers Society awards scholarships to area high school students each year. This year we are proud to announce the availability of several $1,000 scholarships for African American graduating seniors with a cumulative 3.7 or higher grade point average. Students must attend a high school in the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area to be eligible. Schools may nominate students who best meet the following scholarship criteria: academic achievement, extracurricular activities, community/civic involvement, and financial need. Skills to Succeed Academy

Ongoing

Skills to Succeed Academy is a free, online learning program for 16 to 24 year-old jobseekers. The program provides realistic, relevant, and engaging content through interactive exercises so that jobseekers can build their skills and confidence to make career choices, find a job and keep it. To get started, visit s2sacademy.org and select Learner Registration. You need a valid email address to get started. Use ACCESS CODE: 04BBkc to complete your learner registration and create an account. Once your account is created, you can access learning modules and track your progress.

Eliot S. Berkley Award

The Eliot S. Berkley Award is a scholarship available to currently enrolled juniors or seniors at Kansas City-area high schools who have demonstrated superior academic interest and competence in international studies. The award includes a $500 scholarship. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m. on Friday, November 8, 2019. Please see website for details.

The Kansas City Royals Trainee Program is designed for applicants interested in the sports and entertainment industry, particularly professional sports. The Royals are seeking applicants with various backgrounds, educations, and experiences to create a valuable community of learning opportunities from front office staff as well as from one another. The Trainee Program intends to cultivate a network of young professionals dedicated to developing their career and supporting the careers of those around them. The Trainee positions take place only within the 2020 season, and there should not be an expectation of full-time employment upon its conclusion.
