Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City presents The Big Draft Event

Kansas City, Mo. — (April 25, 2023) Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City (BBBSKC) announced today their Big Draft Event, sponsored by Meta. The event will take place Thursday, April 27 at the Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS) headquarters (1709 Walnut Street, Kansas City, MO) and at Barkley (1740 Main Street, Kansas City, MO).  It will feature alumni Chiefs players, live music, food, drinks, live streaming of the Draft and will celebrate the newest class of volunteers or “Bigs” for BBBSKC.  This event will be the premiere landing spot, just a few blocks away, for all the Draft festivities happening at Union Station.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters is thrilled to come together with Meta and be a part of the largest sports-related event in Kansas City history,”  said Micheal Lawrence, CEO of BBBSKC.  “This event will celebrate over 200 new Bigs that have joined the BBBS family this year and who will be defending the potential of their Littles for years to come.”

“We are proud to support Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City and celebrate the newest group of volunteers dedicating their time to mentoring our community’s youth,” said Stef Seger, community development manager, Meta. “We consider Kansas City our home, and we are committed to playing a positive role and investing in its long-term vitality.”

The Big Draft event at BBBSKC and Barkley will be 3-11 pm, guests will be able to come and go throughout the evening as they enjoy the Draft festivities.  The event will host approximately 1,000 invited guests including new Bigs and community and corporate sponsors that will be able to hop between the two locations.  Each location will have food, drinks, music, big screen TV’s that project the live stream of the Draft and local celebrities including Blake Bell, Tim Grunhard, Nick Allegretti, Shawn Barber, Danan Hughes, Derrick Johnson, Christian Okoye and KU Coach Lance Leipold.

The Big Draft Event is a ticketed event and is not open to the public but media are welcome to attend. The program will begin at 6:00 pm.
