Thursday, April 23, 2026 is National Take Your Child to Work Day — which makes it the perfect opportunity to invite your Little into your world. Take Your Little to Work Day isn’t just about an office visit; it’s about pulling back the curtain and showing them what’s possible. This experience gives your Little exposure to new career paths they may have never considered, builds confidence in professional spaces, expands their network and social capital, and helps them imagine their future in a tangible way. You get to be the bridge between curiosity and opportunity. Closer to the event, we’ll send a guide to help you structure the day and make it as impactful as possible. As an added bonus, all participating matches will be entered into a raffle to win one of multiple $25 gift cards of your choice! On Take Your Little to Work Day, post a photo of your Little at work and tag @bbbskc in your post or story on Instagram, facebook, or LinkedIn to qualify for the incentive! If you do not use social media, email your photo to Droo on the same day to qualify.

Example text/email for employer: I am a volunteer mentor also known as a Big with Big Brothers Big Sisters Kansas City and would love to participate in Take Your Little to Work Day on Thursday, April 23. This would involve hosting my Little for a structured, supervised visit focused on career exposure and learning. I will ensure all safety guidelines and company policies are followed. Please let me know if this is possible and if any additional approvals are required.

Example text/email for Parent/Guardian: I’m hoping to bring [Little’s Name] with me to work on Thursday, April 23 for Take Your Little to Work Day. The purpose of the day is to expose them to different career paths and help them imagine their future. It’s about building confidence, exploring possibilities, and seeing what a professional environment looks like in a safe and supervised setting. While this would mean missing a day of school, the experience is designed to be a meaningful, real-world learning opportunity. Exposure to workplaces, professionals, and career conversations can have a lasting impact on future goals, motivation, and learning confidence. They would be with me the entire time at [location], from approximately [start time] to [end time]. We’ll tour the space, meet a few colleagues, and talk about different job roles and pathways. Please let me know if you’re comfortable with them participating.
